Governor Gray Davis was down in the polls after budget problems and the state's power crisis. 300 candidates, including actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, sought to replace Davis. Schwarzenegger went on to win the election in October 2003 and was re-elected in 2006.

Photo essay: Water Wars - The Klamath water crisis

Photo essay: Water Wars - The Klamath water crisis

The Klamath River in Klamath, Ore. supplies water to many diverse interests in the Klamath Basin. An endangered species, the sucker fish, has created a conflict over water flows from the Klamath reservoir into the Klamath river. A lack of water in the region has environmentalists, farmers and Native Americans fighting with the U.S. Department of the Interior over what little water is left.

Photojournalist's Coffee House

The Photojournalist's Coffee House

Here you will find a photo documentary on a homeless community in Covington, Kentucky and photo essays on carnival workers in Ohio, the clowns of the Clyde Beatty Cole Brothers circus and a homeless couple living on the banks of the Hudson River in Jersey City. In 1994, I launched my first web site and called it the Photojournalist's Coffee House. Today it is a bit of a relic from the past, but still quite interesting and worth checking out.
